The Society of Sports Therapists is an organisation of professional practitioners. It oversees the development of qualifications, including degree courses, and establishing state registration for its members.

The aims of the Society are:

  1. To provide a professional body for Sports Therapists which will monitor and legislate on all matters pertaining to Sports Therapy.
  2. To validate nationally recognised educational qualifications, as a prerequisite for membership.
  3. To provide comprehensive professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for members.
  4. To provide a platform for members to further their knowledge, careers and academic or therapeutic ambitions.
  5. To accredit vocational and post-registration Sports Therapy courses, thus improving the standards of care and treatment given to sports people.
  6. To lobby legislative and educational organisations to ensure that the protection of both the public and members is addressed by national registration and regulation.
