The Society of Sports Therapists is an organisation
of professional practitioners. It oversees the development of qualifications,
including degree courses, and establishing state registration for its
members.
The aims of the Society are:
- To provide a professional body for Sports Therapists
which will monitor and legislate on all matters pertaining to Sports
Therapy.
- To validate nationally recognised educational
qualifications, as a prerequisite for membership.
- To provide comprehensive professional indemnity
and public liability insurance, for members.
- To provide a platform for members to further their
knowledge, careers and academic or therapeutic ambitions.
- To accredit vocational and post-registration Sports
Therapy courses, thus improving the standards of care and treatment
given to sports people.
- To lobby legislative and educational organisations
to ensure that the protection of both the public and members is addressed
by national registration and regulation.
- To advise regulatory and sporting bodies on all
matters pertaining to Sports Therapy and Sports Therapists.
